			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Within a few weeks of our second child being born my health was bottoming out and I was feeling lethargic and numb pretty much all the time. I&#8217;d had several visits with my doctor, but the answer was always the same - nothing medically wrong.</p>
<p>Fortunately a friend of mine is a dietician and she advised me that I could do with going on a detox diet, and put some effort into learning <a href="http://www.healthydetoxtips.com" target='_blank'>how to detox</a> and understand the impact of toxins on my health. From what people were telling me it was clear that detoxing had a lot to offer, so I spent a few weeks doing some research to learn all about it, and why so many alternative and complementary health practitioners advocate regular detox dieting and recommend starting with the <a href="http://hubpages.com/hub/7-Day-Detox" target='_blank'>1 week detox</a> so strongly.</p>

<p>There are some very simple things you can do to help detox your body.</p>
<p><b>Drink water or herbal teas</b></p>
<p>Drinking plenty of fluid is absolutely vital while you are following a detox diet because the water will help your body excrete toxins from your system. It also helps to prevent constipation, reduce bloating, and improves your complexion. You should aim for about 2 to 3 liters a day, although you will need more in hot weather or on days when you are exercising.</p>
<p>As a rule of thumb, for every hour that your exercise each day, drink an extra 2 glasses of water. Choose still mineral water, or tap water that has been filtered, or boiled and then cooled. Ideally drink water that is at room temperature. <p><b>How Can I Possibly Drink So Much?</b></p>
<p>It&#8217;s actually quite easy to drink that much water when you know how. Start your first glass of water with a little freshly squeezed lemon juice or root ginger when you wake up - this is a great way to activate your metabolism and bowel - then aim to drink little and often throughout the day.</p>
<p>Each time you eat something have a glass then, have a couple of herbal teas during the day, another during the evening and one more glass when you&#8217;re getting ready for bed. Feel free to substitute some water with herbal teas.</p>
<p><b>Try To Eat Food Which Is As Fresh As Possible</b></p>
<p>This means choosing fresh food whenever possible and eating most of your fruit and vegetables raw, in salads or as snacks or appetizers. Raw fruits and veg are still full of all their natural enzymes, vitamins and minerals. Once food has been kept too long, or when it is cooked or preserved, it kills the natural enzymes.</p>
<p>Try to buy your fruits and veg locally, preferably at farms and markets in your area. Food from other countries is generally harvested before it is ripe (before it&#8217;s built up its full nutritional value) and a lot of nutrition is lost during the journey to the stores.</p>
<p><b>Should You Go Organic</b></p>
<p>Buying organic produce where possible is better for your health but not totally necessary, because organic is usually much more expensive, but selecting just a few organic ingredients will be a step in the right direction.</p>
<p>If you can&#8217;t find or afford organic fruits and veggies, it&#8217;s not a problem. Concentrating on eating fresh (and ideally raw) fruit and veg is the main point regardless of them being organic or not, rather than not get enough of them. Nonetheless, there&#8217;s a lot of health benefits to having as much as possible of organic produce on a healthy detox diet.</p>
<p>Organic foods are produced without the use of artificial pesticides and fertilizers, and therefore they are much healthier being free from toxins and man made chemicals. Although it&#8217;s a controversial area,  there is growing evidence that the accumulation of toxins from man made chemicals and bug sprays overtime may cause health problems in the future.</p>
<p>By comparison, organic foods are processed much less than non-organic. That means they contain no hydrogenated fats, artificial additives, preservatives or genetically modified organisms (GMOs). And you may notice that organic foods also taste better and have much deeper flavors.</p>
